Kruno Bonačić (University of Dubrovnik, Croatia) will coordinate the Mediterranean activities involved in native oyster restoration. The University of Dubrovnik is the main research body working in Mali Ston Bay, which is the largest native oyster aquaculture production area in the Mediterranean and boasts pristine water quality, Bonamia free stocks, no presence of Pacific oysters, high levels of natural spat recruitment and a longstanding experience with suspended oyster culture techonolgies. With this in mind, it seems like the ideal focal point for restoration activities in the Mediterranean.
